DAY 16: SEDONA TO MOGOLLON RIM


Broken Arrow, Sedona, AZ – 18 October 2019: Picked up the Jeep from Barlow’s first thing in the morning and made my way to Broken Arrow, a favorite trail. It was a beautiful day for Jeeping and the trail was busy so there was not much opportunity to take photos apart from at the “photo stops” but I managed to catch a few moments at Submarine Rock between Pink Jeep tours when I had the site to myself. It felt good to just be alone out there in that amazing space — even if just for a little while. I lingered until the next herd of Jeeps rolled in…

Mogollon Rim, AZ – 18 October 2019: I was racing the clock a little bit as I wanted to find a good camp spot with enough time to set up before sunset. And I also had to think about my location versus where I would need to go in the morning, do I couldn’t go too deeply in. But I really wanted to camp on one of those “fingers” that reach out over the world below, like where I camped that very first time I was out here. As I followed the road along the edge of the rim I saw some other folks camping in a good spot, but I wanted solitude and so I kept going until the next “finger” reached out and there was a perfect spot with a fire ring ready and waiting…
