Connetquot — Look Who Crossed My Path…
Posted on October 2, 2011
A perfect autumn morning, sun is shining, air is crisp and clear, it is the kind of day that makes you want to do stuff. Though I was a little slow getting started, as I spent some time debating with myself whether to come out for a hike at Connetquot or to go do some shopping.
Surprisingly, the hike won. And that was a good thing.
The park was pretty empty despite the great weather, so it was really like being alone with nature for most of my walk. Fall is just starting and while there aren’t a lot of colors yet, I did see a few trees beginning to turn (I am sure once the leaves turn there will be A LOT of people coming to the park to see the spectacular foliage).I took my usual path, following the bridle path around towards Bunce’s Bridge, and then looping back toward the Mill.
As I was going along deep in my thoughts, I looked up and he was there eating in the tall grass. The deer was so close i can’t believe i hadn’t even noticed him. He didn’t run off, and I was able to make a few blurry photos of him with my phone before he crossed my path and headed back into the woods.
It turned out to be a truly excellent day for a walk and I am glad I did it.
