Hubbard County Park — A Dock on the Bay
Posted on January 14, 2012
Set out to find a trail on Birch Creek Road, in Flanders, not far from the famous “Big Duck,” but made a mistake and ended up on Red Creek Road instead. I was in the Hubbard County Park, and there was active hunting going on. A bit nervous about just going walking where people were hunting (though I don’t exactly have the profile of a deer), I drove on looking for another path. By chance I came to a deserted clearing that turned out to be a dock on the bay (“…just sitting on the dock on the bay…”). I got out to explore, this hidden launch area. This place, that in summer must be so crowded, today, on a cold January afternoon, was desolate, and in this magical afternoon light, was rendered in colors more vibrant than reality.
I decided I would come back to this location for a more thorough exploration another day…
